Well there’s a lot to talk about F1. The reason F1 cars are funny looking is because of the aero specs FIA implemended. Front wing is now lower and wider, the rear wing is narrow and higher, all this reduces grip but lessens the weight behind and improves overtaking. check out this clip for all the changes that have been made http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WyNGLAnfc6M

Brawn took a year and a half to build this car compared to the other who took six months. They WERE to have more speed than the other guys, Half way into the season the big guns will catch their pace. It’s only the beginning of the season and no body knew where the car they made actually stood. Now they do, so work would have already started. Im … Read morehappy at Brawn’s result. Ross Brawn was Michael Schumacher’s race engineer and after Michael Schumacher retired he had moved to Honda and when Honda pulled out. He made his own team

Brawn GP recorded a one-two victory in Melbourne, but it seems the former Honda team could have destroyed rather than simply beaten its competition.

BMW-Sauber figures expressed huge disappointment about Robert Kubica’s late crash with Sebastian Vettel last Sunday, insisting the Pole could have raced up to eventual winner Jenson Button and passed him.

“That’s interesting,” Briton Button, 29, grinned as he reflected on his win in St. Kilda – a beach suburb near Melbourne – before having to jet off to Malaysia.

“I don’t think Kubica has any idea about whether I was driving as fast as I could have,” he added coyly.

Red Bull’s Vettel, seemingly matching his Mercedes-powered rival as he ran second to Button for most of the 58-lap race, suspects the Brawn driver’s hint is indeed true.

“I have the feeling they (Brawn) were playing with us,” the German told Auto Motor und Sport.

An unnamed Brawn team figure is quoted by Britain’s Guardian newspaper as also suggesting the Brackley camp did not display its full pace throughout the 2009 season opening race weekend.

“It is just foolish to just annihilate people all the time,” he said. “I think we have a little bit in the bag. We’ve got good stuff coming and I think we have reason to be confident,” he said.

Massa did not qualify into Q2 here’s what he had to say:
“I went wide on the first lap in Turn 14 and then I improved on the second-timed lap by two-tenths. The team thought it was enough to be inside the top 15, and maybe I thought this as well myself to be honest, because when I got back to the pits I was fourth. I stayed in the top seven for a while but then when I started to drop it was impossible to go out again because there was no time to do another lap. Maybe the track improved a lot as well. With the temperature going down many people improved. We just thought it was enough to get in the top 15 and it wasn’t – so we dropped completely”
“Maybe the past is still too fresh in our minds, where we had a very competitive car and it was always easy to go out in Q1 on the hard tyres – or whatever – and be in the top 10. Now it’s not that easy anymore. Now we need to be able to use our tyres in qualifying because that’s the only way to pass through every session.”

I have been watching F1 for 10 years now and I have witnessed when ever there are rule changes the bottom end tends to threat the top runners. It’s because the top runners are laid back and the bottom end has that energy and enthusiasm you can say that makes the difference

Omer on April 6th, 2009 at 2:56 PM

That Brawn GP won for the second time in Malaysia was no great shock in itself. That they won in such stormy, unpredictable conditions – with a car that had never run in the rain before – was perhaps more surprising. As was the fact that Ferrari and McLaren came away with just a point between them.

Two races into the championship and Brawn, Toyota and Williams – the three teams running controversial diffusers – have established themselves as the ‘new power generation’, with last year’s title contenders left licking their wounds.

I dont think this is true.

Omer on April 9th, 2009 at 5:26 PM

Well I respect your point of view but as you see massa said for himself that maybe last year is fresh in our mind. He thought he had a competitive car and he was a bit laid back not him but the entire team.
When schumi was winning every race in F1 FIA changed rules beacuse they were lossing business as people lost interest in F1. in 2005 they introduced this rule where no tyre change was allowed. they had to complete the race on single set of tyres. Ferrari and mclaren were the cars who used up the tyres the most. as a result in 2005 and 2006 renault won the championship. in 2007 this was changed again cars went from V10 3 litre to V8 2.4 litre whenever there were these changes the bottom end comes into contention

proXima on April 11th, 2009 at 3:32 AM

@Omer
What I understand from your post is that, its the rules that decide who is winner of the race… not the driver, team, car :S
