Upcoming Intel Larrabee

Larrabee can be considered a hybrid between a multi-core CPU and a GPU, and has similarities to both. Its coherent cache hierarchy and x86 architecture compatibility are CPU-like, while its wide SIMD vector units and texture sampling hardware are GPU-like.
Larrabee is a Discrete GPU developed saparately from Intel’s Integrated Graphics Chipperies.
The first product based on Larrabee will target the personal computer graphics market and is expected in 2009 or 2010. Larrabee will be the industry’s first many-core x86 Intel architecture, meaning it will be based on an array of many processors. The individual processors are similar to the Intel processors that power the Internet and the laptops, PCs and servers that access and network to it.

Nvidia Prepares – MCP82 XE [nForce 980a SLI]

Nvidia is going to release the MCP82 XE chipset later this month where the official marketing name will be nForce 980a SLI. MCP82 XE is essentially the same as the MCP72 XE except that it is qualified to work with the latest AMD3 processors on both DDR2 and DDR3 boards.
MCP82 supports PCIe 2.0, HT 3.0, Tri/Quad SLI, Hybrid SLI, 12 USB 2.0, 6 SATA 3Gb/s ports, Gigabit Ethernet, HD Audio etc. MCP82XE is rated at 20W TDP in mGPU mode, 22W TDP in Hybrid mode and 9W TDP in idle mode.
