  • 3D Building Exterior Render – Design Workflow

    3D renders we see everyday are result of a series of different work phases. Sometimes it starts with a Sketch and sometimes a map. I am posting step by step details of a 3D Architectural render I did. It starts with an AutoCAD drawing of a building which I took into 3DsMAX for modeling, texturing, lighting, camera setting and so on.

    I first discussed the project with the building designer and architect about his idea of development. Then I went ahead and used the Architectural design plan and elevation maps, did a lot of RnD on design elements and used some few images for references to model the building. The final image is set in a exterior setting.

    So you all work freelance? But then you should have a “Contact Us” page, shouldn’t you?

    Questions: How’s AutoCAD different from 3D Studio Max? Could this building be made on 3D Studio Max?

    I’ve worked minutely on Studio Max but never on AutoCAD

    @Nabiha

    This is not a portfolio blog so we don’t have contact information listed over here.

    You are welcome to join in and be an author If you want to write for levelx. You can contact me over @lxgamer on twitter for that. Moreover, We are a group of people with similar interests i-e technology, design etc.

    and now answer to your question about AutoCAD and 3DsMAX.
    ~ AutoCAD is a drafting application which is used to draw 2d maps in computer (CAD means computer aided design), In its latest versions they have added functionality to create 3D renders of drawings but its not even close to 3DsMAX which is a complete 3D design application.
    This building is made in 3DsMAX, only the screenshots of maps are from AutoCAD.

    and lastly these renders are done by Muazzam, He is an author on this blog as well. He’s a pro 3D Artist.
