Nokia unveils Symbian Belle OS – better late than never
August 24th, 2011 / 1 Comment » / by Faizan
Today, Nokia unveiled latest update to its Symbian 3 OS named Symbian Belle that put Nokia in head to head competition with current smartphone market leaders Android and iOS. But Nokia should have released this OS around two years ago when smartphone war was about to start, not now when Nokia has almost lost it. The new OS brings UI and performance improvements, gorgeous new widgets, more customization options, more apps and built-in NFC functionality. All these updates make this OS visually similar to Android and is enough to keep Nokia fans happy for some time until they realize the need for all those awesome apps already available for other platforms. Checkout the UI demo video.
Am I not Holding it Right?

I am not an iPhone fan but Steve Jobs was right that ‘Antennagate is not unique to iPhone 4′. In this video I’ve tested my old Nokia 6120c to demonstrate that it doesn’t work either if you hold it the wrong way (aka Death Grip) :p however I’ve used this phone for over two years but it never dropped a single call due to this issue.

First seen In The Dark Knight, It was a highly anticipated music phone because it’s the first touch screen S60 5th Edition Based Phone. What that means is that, You can use your body parts (e.g A Finger) or the stylus or the plectrum ( Guitar Pick Thing ) included inside the box, to play with the TUBE. The Tube’s variety of input options, including the handwriting mode, mean it will appeal to a lot of people: the two QWERTY modes are rather nice, and the full screen version is nice and accurate. The keypad input method is large and comfortable too, so newbie’s to the touch screen world will feel right at home thanks to the hepatics.
The sound is amazing as its loaded with the best stereo speakers offered In any Cell Phone. It has a 3.5mm generic stereo jack to use it with any headphones, speaker system or car deck with an AUX option. Bundled headphones are very decent and have a crisp sound quality but if you are going to gym with those ones plugged, you’re not going to like them very much. Instead you can get any iPod ear buds available under Rs. 1000.
Screen Resolution is a 640 x 480 Pixel 16 Million Color screen, Now what that offers is the High Definition for Pocket entertainment. There is a deck also to hold up the phone if you want to watch something during load shedding ( that’s the case if you are in Pakistan ). A TV Cable is also included so you can hook your 5800 to your TV as well.
The camera is a 3.2 MP Carl-Zeiss Optics based Lens with a secondary camera on front used for 3G. As there isn’t 3G network yet in our country we use our secondary camera as a dirty mirror. The Tube’s 3.2MP Carl Zeiss-ed lens is a great little snapper… the phone takes great pictures, and is a cinch to use as well. Indoor performance isn’t that good.
Nokia has included some spare parts in the box, Such as a extra stylus pen. A Pouch with little holes in it. Some no good manual guides. Also included in the package is a Free 40 Track Comes With Music voucher that you can use to download 40 Free songs from Nokia Music Store.
Over all, If you have it, your fellow workers, your siblings, even your mates can get jealous of it. Its easy to get along with. You just need sometime to get used to the key less experience that you are going to get in this model. If one says it’s a Rival to iPhone, I guess it Isn’t. There are many solid reasons for that. Now can S60 compare to iPhone OS X ? No! Another rival that you may think of could be the Android G1, we haven’t got our hands on a G1 device till now, but that’s better than Nokia’s S60 Platform as well. Anyways, We love new Nokia phones and we will continue this habit.
