Corsair Voyager Mini USB Flash Drive
Today I bought Corsair Voyager Mini USB Flash Drive 4 GB. I was going to buy Flash Voyager but it was not available, s
o I end up buying this one. I am going to use it for playing mp3s in my ride on Kenwood KDC-MP543U Recevier.
Design & Usability:
If you’ve previously owned a Corsair product from the Voyager USB flash drive product line you’ll be immediately familiar with the rubberized look and feel of this drive. The Voyager Mini uses an all-rubber housing, just like the Flash Voyager, to protect the data placed on it against severe temperature, moisture, or physical abuse.
The Corsair Flash Voyager Mini features a retractable USB connector that allows the drive to be safely stored away when not in use and thus reduces any potential problems from static discharge while being transported and no fears of cap being LOST. The mechanism for the retractable USB connector appears very durable and should not trigger without the users interaction. Since the slim USB connector does not have any shielding to protect it’s exposed pins there is a increased risk when transporting the drive without the USB connector safely retracted into the flash drive case.
Performance:
The Corsair Flash Voyager Mini 4GB was found to have data transfer rates of up to 18MB/sec read and 6MB/sec write. These performance numbers are not all that impressive, but the drive was designed for size and not performance.
Cost & Warranty:
It costs 1300 Rs from Galaxy Computers with 1+2 Years Warranty.
The Good:
Small and portable
Retractable USB port
The Bad:
Rather slow write speeds
No activity or status LED
Exposed USB pins prone to static damage
Bottom Line:
The Corsair Flash Voyager Mini USB drives is small and compact, but still offer nearly all the features found in the Voyager series!
