  • HTC Desire – Benchmark

    Digg Digg

As we know HTC desire comes with great specs 1 GHz processor and 576 MB or Ram, I’ve done quick benchmark to compare it with upcoming Android 2.2 (Froyo) release.  There are rumors that HTC will release Froyo for Desire in Q3 2010 and as demonstrated at Google IO 2010 Froyo is 2x to 5x times faster from its Predecessor (Eclair). I’ve used two free apps from market for this Benchmark, one is BenchmarkPi and other is Benchmark. When Froyo will be released I’ll use same apps to check whether its 2 – 5x times faster as promised or not.

Did you update your software since you got your Desire? I got from Homeshopping website as well but my software is 1.15.xxxx

Faizan on July 25th, 2010 at 8:20 PM

@Adeel, Yes i’ve udpated couple of time, Is your desire also came with orange branding? First I debranded it with generic Desire Rom to get rid of orange bloatware then did OTA couple of times. right now its running 1.21.405.2 build.

Adeel on July 26th, 2010 at 1:18 PM

Yup it is the Orange branded version (in black). I was hesitant to flash a new ROM due to risk of it getting SIM locked. Did you use the same guide you linked in your phone review? Does the radio update as well? And no issues with locking?

Faizan on July 26th, 2010 at 1:21 PM

Yes I used the same guide. no I didn’t updated the radio. And no issues with locking yet. But before doing anything do alot of research on xda forums and try it on your own risk :P

Adeel on July 26th, 2010 at 2:16 PM

One more question. My radio version is 32.30.00 not 32.36.00. You are using the same radio your phone came with?

Faizan on July 26th, 2010 at 2:28 PM

    Yes, mine is 32.36.00.28u_4.06.00.02_2

Adeel on July 26th, 2010 at 2:42 PM

One more last question! on some guides they say Wifi gives problem after you update to 1.21 software. I guess your’s is working fine?

Faizan on July 26th, 2010 at 2:44 PM

Yes, No problems with wifi after update…

Adeel on July 26th, 2010 at 8:55 PM

I am having trouble making a gold card. Did you make one? or did you do it without gold card

Adeel on July 26th, 2010 at 9:49 PM

Solved it. Success! So long Orange

Faizan on July 26th, 2010 at 9:49 PM

Yes, I made gold card by exactly following instructions given here http://theunlockr.com/2010/03/10/how-to-create-a-goldcard/ I’ve Kingston 2gb sd card

Faizan on July 26th, 2010 at 9:52 PM

Great, I wish Homeshopping.pk should have told us that their Desires are of Orange Brand before buying.

Adeel on July 27th, 2010 at 3:31 PM

Yup. And I hope they give unlocking code if that issue comes up

Faizan on July 27th, 2010 at 3:36 PM

Yes they will, Check reviews on their site, Thats what they replied to me.
