UKAMA Awards 2010 – Winners & Highlights

HIGHLIGHTS:

Taking the event back to where it all began (at a bigger scale, must say) the Royal Festival Hall, at bank of River Thames. The UK Asian Music Awards were hosted by Bobby Friction; let’s not talk about his outfit, loud for sure and Sophia Choudhary from the Bollywood industry, who revealed more than required in black.

Jaz Dhami kicked off the event with his slow numbers, and proved how besuraa he is, sorry Jaz it just didn’t work, you’re better off in the studio with the technology to improve your voice quality, Followed by Groundshaker producer Aman Hayer alongside protégé Angrej Ali performed latest smashing hit ‘ Nachdi de’.

As per tradition the AMAs launch budding artists, this year it was Jaya, who kept it sweet and simple. Undoubtedly the most popular artist of the evening was Imran Khan who single handedly taken over the Bhangra scene with the moster hit ‘Amplifier@ and the Dutchman took no punches taking over the UKAMA 2010 with an alive cobra around his neck – was not a pleasant sight. eeeeeep!

RDB after 4 years performed in London. London welcomed ‘em back with warmth.
The Sugababes – @ the AMAs was quite a huge deal for the asians, however, at Jay Seans arrival, the asians made it Desi !!

Malkit Singh took over the show with one pure Desi style bhangra tune alongside Mumzy stranger and Sophia ! the last act by Roach Killa- was not really a killer ! Shin kept it simple !
Jay Sean bagged 4 silver glass babies and Imran Khan could manage only one – Rahat Fateh Ali Khan did the Pakistani Industry proud – and the mention of Nazia Hassan and her songs being remixed by the talented DJ Kayper made one feel extremely warm.
The AMAs were expected to be bigger, next year if BBC asian network is still running and rolling , we have our fingers crossed ! congratulations to the winners and Good Luck for 2010!
